Presented on December 3, 1988 at the Bologna Motor Show and marketed in May 1989, the AF1 Sintesi '89, type EU, takes the place of the previous Sintesi type EH just six months after its presentation. The 1989 Synthesis is one of those bikes that does not go unnoticed. With a few targeted changes, the perfect is perfected. The beautiful creature of Noale literally leaves everyone speechless. Once again Aprilia marks the main road. Main Street, just like the advertisement of the time says. The '89 version is slightly updated both aesthetically, with a different windshield, and mechanically with the adoption of an electronically controlled exhaust valve. The price in 1989 is 5,690,000 lire The Sintesi '89 is offered in two new colors which are truly a hymn to the skill and flair (and also to the courage!) Of Aprilia designers. After successfully experimenting on Project 108 and Sintesi '88 colors with tone-on-tone color combinations, the Noale style office delights with the new Sintesi introducing absolutely new graphic elements. More precisely, triangles of color. A real novelty that once again leaves several stunned competitors. The beloved Didier De Radigues Replica version is a real tribute to the bright colors and the bike of the Belgian champion who for the '89 season replaces Loris Reggiani driving the AF1 250. Mudguard and wheels are red. A triangle always colors part of the tank and the hull red. Lilac dominates the middle part of the hull, the rear part of the tank and a portion of the tail section that integrates the side panels. The lower part of the fairing is white and as on the Project 108 Replica it adopts a spectacular large "A" symbol of the Aprilia logo and various stickers of the technical sponsors of the team that races in the world championship. The three quarters of the tail section that houses the number 4 (of the Belgian pilot De Radigues) are colored by a lively aquamarine that also colors the passenger seat. The second coloring designed for those who do not like race replicas adopts less gaudy tones, but perhaps the new graphic elements introduced stand out even more. Windshield and upper part of the tank and seat are purple, with a lilac thread, while the middle part of the bike is white. To revive everything and to reaffirm the gritty nature of the Synthesis, think the wide lower triangle of the fiery red fairing. At the Bologna Motor Show, Replica wears the number 6 on the codon, however conquered by Loris Reggiani in the '87 season and not in '88, where in fact he ranks only thirteenth. Reggiani - and the CR1 Racing Team that follows it - therefore do not renew the agreement with Aprilia for the '89 season and move to the official Honda RS sponsored by HB. Therefore, Aprilia organizes its team and uses the number 4 (which was a "free" number) assigned automatically by the FIM to the Belgian Didier De Radigues (who came from the 500 class and therefore did not have "his" number), new rider for the official Aprilia team. Therefore, it is correct to speak of two Sintesi Replica mod. '89: a pre-series Reggiani Replica version characterized by the number 6 on the codon and marketed in very few copies in the early months of '89 and the subsequent and identical De Radigues Replica characterized however by the number 4 on the codon. The Sintesi '89 also proves to be a competitive bike and wins the Italian Sport Production 125 championship in the under 21 category with Davide Bulega. The Sintesi was replaced in the 90s by the AF1 Futura, although the last Sintesi produced is the subsequent Sport dedicated to those who want to race in the Sport Production championship. The model identification code for Sintesi '89 is EU followed by DGM 52502 and chassis number 0210 ****. COURTESY OF 125stradali.com
