The MX 125 is the intermediate displacement version , used since 1975 for the various championships, and was mass-produced from 1977 to 1985 . The first series , produced from 1977 to 1980, was a very simple bike, without any attention to modern bikes, although heavily modified from year to yea. The engine (a Hiro ) had air cooling, doublecross rear shock absorber and drum. With the MX 125 Ivan Alborghetti is Italian champion in 1977 and 6th in the 1978 Cross World Championship , while Corrado Maddii is 5th in the 1979 World Championship , and the Japanese Torao Suzuki is 6th in the 1980 World Championship . In 1981 liquid cooling was introduced, while in 1982 the rear monoshock was adopted and the livery became white, thus creating one of the most fascinating motocross bikes of all time, aesthetically speaking. In 1983 the Rotax engine arrived, more powerful but not much appreciated, and the double cam brakes, not very functional, so much so that the following year they became front discs and classic post drums. 1985 was the last model, production stopped after the production of a few pieces and the history of the Aprilia 125 MX ended.
