The Pegaso 125 was Aprilia's road-going enduro for learner-licence riders, built around the liquid-cooled Rotax 123 two-stroke borrowed from the Tuareg Wind. The first series of 1989 and the lightly revised 1990 bike (new colours, graphics and silencer) used a smaller 28 mm carburettor and a 38 mm upside-down fork, which set it apart from the later restyled models. It paired a tall 900 mm seat and long-travel suspension with a peaky, revvy engine more suited to quick road riding than serious off-road work.
