For 1991 Aprilia restyled the Pegaso 125 with a single trapezoidal headlight and fitted the second-generation Rotax 123 with electric start, a larger 34 mm carburettor and a catalyst in the exhaust. The chassis gained a stiffer 41 mm Marzocchi upside-down fork, a wider rear tyre and the front disc moved to the left side. The 1992 update refined the gear selector and clutch and gave the engine rounder outer covers. It remained a sharp-handling, peaky two-stroke trail bike aimed at young riders on 125 licences.
