The Pegaso 600 was Aprilia's first large-capacity road bike, a street-biased trail machine aimed squarely at Honda's NX650 Dominator. It used an air-cooled 562 cc Rotax four-valve single from the Tuareg 600, hung in a steel single-cradle frame with an upside-down fork and a 19-inch front wheel. Riders liked its punchy, lively engine and nimble handling, though the soft fork and modest wind protection kept it more of a road and gravel-track bike than a true off-roader. It was later replaced by the liquid-cooled, five-valve Pegaso 650.
