The 650 that took over from the Pegaso 600 kept the name but little else, pairing a five-valve, liquid-cooled Rotax single with an alloy beam frame and long-travel suspension. It is a road-biased trail bike with strong midrange pull and light, easy handling, better suited to commuting and back roads than to serious off-road work. From 1996 the engine received internal updates, including plain bearings in place of roller bearings and a stronger alternator.
