For 1997 the Pegaso was restyled into the version known as the Cube, with new bodywork, revised chassis geometry and a range of mechanical changes. Front suspension switched to a larger 45 mm Marzocchi upside-down fork with less travel, and the rear tyre went to a narrower 130/80-17, underlining a shift toward an urban all-rounder rather than an off-roader. It competed with the BMW F650 and Suzuki Freewind as a practical, fun middleweight single.
