The Mille SP (Sports Production) was a homologation special built so Aprilia could race the Mille in World Superbike, with just 150 made. Its Cosworth-reworked engine used a much shorter stroke, bigger valves at a narrower angle, a single spark plug per cylinder and larger throttle bodies, lifting output to around 145 hp at 11,000 rpm. It also had its own adjustable frame, racing Öhlins suspension and carbon bodywork, and cost roughly three times as much as a standard Mille.
