For 2005 the RSV 1000 R carried on largely unchanged from the 2004 relaunch, keeping the magnesium-cased 60° V-twin with ram-air feed, aluminium twin-spar frame and radial-mount front brakes. Reviewers rated its top-end pull, stability and approachable feel against four-cylinder rivals, but felt the stock suspension settings and tyres were not ideal for wet road riding.
