The 2006 update gave the RSV 1000 R improved engine breathing, revisions to the frame and bodywork, and two selectable engine maps, lifting claimed output to around 143 hp. The standard R now shared much of the Factory's hardware, including an Öhlins fork, but kept a Sachs rear shock. Testers called it a real but modest step on from the earlier bike, with excellent front-end confidence on track.
