The FW-GP was the 2017 flagship of Aprilia Racing's Factory Works programme and the closest a private buyer could get to the factory's MotoGP hardware. It takes the top FW SBK race bike and fits a V4 with the bore opened to 81 mm and pneumatic valve springs, similar to the engine Aprilia raced in MotoGP in 2015, for a claimed output above 250 hp. Ownership came with factory treatment: the contract and set-up were agreed with engineers at Noale, the bike was hand-delivered, and an Aprilia Racing engineer attended whenever the owner took it on track.
