The RXV 450 was Aprilia's launch model for its new enduro family: a road-registrable competition bike built around a compact 77-degree V-twin at a time when the class was full of singles. Fuel injection, a steel perimeter frame with aluminium side members and an aluminium swingarm made it technically unusual for an off-roader. Early testers found the engine smooth and willing but noted that it produced less peak power than the SXV supermoto sister, being tuned for low and mid-range pull instead.
