The 2009 update was the most significant since launch. A throttle body controlled by a stepper motor and a new ECU improved cold starting, a lateral exhaust met the new FIM noise rules, and a lighter, more compliant swingarm and rear caliper helped shave around 2 kg. A new subframe dropped the seat by about 5 mm, and the bike gained black rims and a red, black and white colour scheme.
