For the 2008 model year Aprilia enlarged the Scarabeo 500's single from 460 to 493 cc and gave it twin spark plugs, aiming at cleaner, quieter running with a small gain in power and stronger mid-range pull. Alongside the new engine came new mirrors, a chrome badge and an adjustable screen with built-in hand guards, while the chassis with its 16-inch front and 14-inch rear wheels and integral brakes carried over. The price stayed almost the same, and the bike remained the motorway-capable flagship of the Scarabeo range.
