The Tuareg 250 Rally was the larger two-stroke in Aprilia's first Tuareg family, a dual-purpose bike styled after the desert racers of the Paris-Dakar era. A liquid-cooled, rotary-valve 250 single with a five-speed box sat in a light steel frame, giving a dry weight of only about 105 kg, and a big two-part tank was fitted for long off-road stages. Kick start, a 21-inch front wheel and long-travel suspension made it a genuine off-roader rather than a styled road bike.
