The 2006 Tuono 1000 R began the second generation. It was rebuilt around the newer RSV1000R superbike, with a new chassis, new styling and the twin exhausts from the R. The engine gained larger 57 mm throttle bodies, a single spark plug per cylinder and a forced air intake. Aprilia claimed about 7 hp more and 6 kg less than the 2005 bike, while meeting Euro 3. Radial Brembo calipers and a part-analogue, part-digital dash completed the update. The rear shock now adjusts only for preload and rebound.
