The Tuono V4 R replaced the V-twin Tuono 1000 R for 2011 by putting a reworked RSV4 superbike engine and chassis under a naked-bike body with an upright riding position and wide handlebar. The 65° V4 was given shorter lower gears and mapping aimed at mid-range pull, with three switchable engine maps. This standard version did without the APRC traction, wheelie and launch control and the quickshifter, and was sold for about 1,000 euros less than the APRC model.
