The C evolution was BMW Motorrad's first series-built electric two-wheeler, a maxi-scooter that reached customers in spring 2014 after a run of concepts and a 2012 near-series prototype. Its 8 kWh battery pack doubles as the main chassis member, while the motor sits in the swingarm and drives the rear wheel by belt. Performance was pitched at a 600 cc petrol maxi-scooter, with about 100 km of everyday range, four riding modes and energy recovery on the overrun and under braking. A longer-range version replaced it later, and the CE 04 eventually succeeded the model in 2021.
