The C1 was BMW's attempt to give urban riders car-like crash protection on two wheels: an aluminium safety cell with a roof hoop, a crumple zone in the nose and two seat belts holding the rider in place. The 125 was the launch version, powered by a small fuel-injected single with a catalytic converter, driving through a CVT and belt. It is gentle rather than quick, with a top speed just over 100 km/h, but very frugal. Sales never met expectations and BMW stopped production in late 2002.
