The E-Power Roadster was a working electric prototype that BMW Motorrad let selected journalists ride at its Miramas proving ground in France at the end of 2019. It was assembled from existing parts: an S 1000 R front end, boxer-family shaft drive at the back and a hybrid-car electric motor fed by a roughly 13 kWh battery, all held in a custom steel frame. With 200 Nm on tap it out-accelerated an S 1000 R, but BMW said range and charging infrastructure were not yet good enough for a production version, and none was announced.
