The Futuro was a fully faired BMW show bike unveiled at the Cologne motorcycle show in 1980, the same year turbocharging became the fashion among motorcycle makers. It was built outside BMW's motorcycle department by the Frankfurt firm b&b, which turbocharged an R 80 boxer and wrapped the bike in aerodynamic Kevlar-reinforced bodywork over a light alloy frame, for a weight of around 180 kg. It was never intended for production, although its full-enclosure styling is often seen as a forerunner of the 1990 K1.
