Shown at EICMA in Milan in November 2019, the Concept R 18 /2 was BMW's second concept around its new 1800 cc big boxer and was pitched as the modern, sportier counterpart to the classic Concept R 18 from Villa d'Este. It used the same engine and loop frame but with 19/16-inch cast wheels, Brembo brakes, a Hattech stainless exhaust and Candy Apple Red metallic paint. BMW presented it as a demonstration of how far the Heritage big-boxer platform could be customised; it was not itself put into production, though the platform underpinned the R 18 range.
