The F 650 CS Scarver took over from the Strada as BMW's road-going single, shown at the IAA in September 2001 and on sale from late November 2001. It used the fuel-injected 50 hp version of the 652 cc engine, a toothed belt instead of a chain, a single-sided swingarm and a fuel tank under the seat, wrapped in deliberately youthful, modular styling.
