2004 brought the facelift, in the model's fourth year. A second spark plug (marked by '2 SPARK' badges on the engine covers) and the new BMS-C II engine management cut fuel use by roughly 6-14 percent and brought peak torque in lower down the rev range, with the same peak output. The bodywork was refreshed with a larger headlight, a front mudguard styled on the bigger GS, a new air-vent panel and windscreens, grey-faced instruments and a redesigned luggage rack. Hazard lights and a power socket became standard, and Iceberg Silver and Yellow joined the colour range.
