The 2003 Dakar was the last of the original single-spark versions and carried over unchanged. Its 21-inch front wheel, long-travel fork with stabiliser bridge and 870 mm seat set it apart from the standard F 650 GS. It remained a relaxed motorway cruiser that could also cope with light off-road work.
