For its fourth model year the Dakar got a twin-spark cylinder head and the more capable BMS-C II engine management, which cut emissions and fuel use and brought peak torque lower in the rev range without changing peak output. The front end was restyled with a new mudguard, larger headlight and revised screen, the luggage rack was redesigned, and hazard lights plus a power socket became standard. Colour choice was narrowed to blue metallic with matt aluminium white.
