The Strada was the road-going sibling of the Funduro: the same Rotax-built 652 cc four-valve single, but with an 18-inch front wheel, shorter suspension, a lower seat and a smaller fairing. For 1997 it carried on as BMW's friendly entry-level single, aimed at newer and shorter riders who wanted a light, economical bike with chain drive rather than BMW's usual shaft.
