Model year 2013 was the first real update for the F 800 GS. The 2013 facelift introduced standard switchable two-channel ABS, optional ESA (rear rebound damping selectable Comfort/Normal/Sport) and optional ASC traction control, a factory lowered suspension (820 mm seat with the low seat), more compact switchgear, new instrument dials showing fuel level and coolant temperature, and reworked bodywork (tank trims, intake snorkel, upper mudguard, windscreen, smoke-grey indicators and tail light). Power stayed at 85 hp but the bike grew heavier, at 214 kg road-ready. The update arrived alongside the new F 700 GS and the F 800 GS Adventure.
