The 1998 R 1100RT continued unchanged mechanically, keeping the 90 hp air/oil-cooled boxer, five-speed gearbox and shaft drive. It remained a full-dress tourer with an electric screen, ABS and integrated luggage. 1998 was also the year BMW offered a 75th-anniversary edition of the RT.
