In its second and third seasons the R 1200 C continued essentially unchanged, a relaxed boxer-engined cruiser with 61 hp, shaft drive, Telelever front suspension and a 740 mm seat. In 1999 the original version took the name R 1200 C Classic as BMW began adding styled variants to the cruiser line.
