The 2012 R 1200 GS was the last model year of the air/oil-cooled GS before the water-cooled replacement arrived for 2013. It carries the DOHC boxer introduced for 2010, with 110 hp, an 8,500 rpm limit and an electronically controlled exhaust flap, in the familiar Telelever/Paralever chassis. It remained the benchmark big all-rounder, equally at home on long tours and gravel roads, with ESA, ASC and Integral ABS available as options.
