Launched in May 2010 to celebrate three decades of the GS family, this edition dressed the R 1200 GS in Alpine White with three-colour stripes based on the old BMW Motorrad Motorsport livery that recalled the R 80 G/S Dakar bikes. It also got "30 Years GS" tank lettering, cross-spoke wheels with black rims, hand guards, a red seat with an embossed GS logo and, in Europe, a tinted screen. Similar 30 Years GS versions were offered on the GS Adventure, F 800 GS and F 650 GS.
