The R 1200 RT Fire is a first-response firefighting conversion of the touring RT using the Danish Firexpress system, which sprays a fine water/foam mist from tanks carried on the bike through a hose reaching several metres. The idea is that a motorcycle can thread through traffic and tackle a small car or bin fire before a fire engine arrives; versions were used in Europe and Asia, and Merseyside Fire and Rescue trialled two R1200RTs with twin 25-litre tanks and a 30 m hose in 2010.
