The Touring Special was an equipment package for the 2009 R 1200 RT rather than a mechanical variant. For 995 euros it bundled the on-board computer, cruise control, heated grips and seat, a second power socket, ESA, chrome exhaust, white indicators and a large 49-litre top case that holds two helmets, about half the cost of fitting them separately. In the UK a related 200-unit Limited Edition in sapphire black also added stability control and tyre-pressure monitoring.
