2008 was the last model year for the R 1200 S, after which the DOHC HP2 Sport took over as BMW's sport boxer. The S itself was unchanged, still offering 122 hp, a dry weight of about 190 kg and optional Öhlins suspension. It remains one of the lightest and fastest air/oil-cooled boxers BMW sold.
