For 2022 the base R 18 carried on unchanged as the purist, solo-seat member of a cruiser family that now also included the Classic, the R 18 B bagger and the Transcontinental tourer. It kept the 1802 cc air/oil-cooled boxer, wire-spoked 19/16-inch wheels, low 690 mm seat and the retro R 5-inspired styling, with the same choice of riding modes and optional reverse assist.
