Unlike the cosmetic R 25/2 update, the R 25/3 was a thorough redesign with a new tank, a hydraulically damped long-travel fork, light-alloy full-hub brakes and 18-inch alloy rims. With 13 hp it was quicker than before, and around 47,700 were sold, making it one of BMW's best-selling motorcycles.
