The R 62 was one of BMW's first 750 cc motorcycles, launched in 1928 as the touring partner to the sporting R 63. Its relaxed side-valve twin was built for torque and reliability, and it shared frame, gearbox and forks with the 500 cc R 52 under BMW's modular approach. Expensive and aimed at well-off riders, it sold 4,355 units before the pressed-steel-framed R 11 replaced it.
