BMW file

The mid-1960s R69S carried on essentially unchanged as BMW's flagship 600 cc sports-tourer, with the 42 hp high-compression twin, shaft drive and Earles-fork chassis. Its appeal lay in durability, smoothness and long range from the 17-litre tank rather than outright sportiness, though its four-speed gearbox was known for slow, heavy changes.
