BMW's Paris-Dakar edition celebrated its rally wins by fitting the standard R 80 G/S with a 32-litre rally-style tank bearing Gaston Rahier's signature, a single-piece seat, a larger rear rack and special paint. The side panels were deleted and a steering stop kept the indicators clear of the bigger tank. Underneath it shared the 50 hp boxer and Monolever chassis of the regular G/S.
