BMW file

The twin-shock R 80 RT was BMW's R 100 RT tourer with the 800 cc boxer in place of the litre engine, keeping the large wind-tunnel fairing with built-in storage boxes. The 1980s update brought Nikasil cylinder bores and a pulse-air emissions system, and testers praised its weather protection, light steering and smooth torque, if not its outright speed or stands.
