BMW file

Introduced in 1994 alongside the R 1100 R, the R 850 R is the same four-valve Oilhead roadster with a smaller bore, giving 848 cc and 70 hp. It took over from the K 75 and the old two-valve boxers as the entry point to the BMW twin range, was popular with police and authorities, and was also sold as a 34 hp version for restricted licences. ABS was optional.
