The R 90/6 was the 900 cc touring model of the 1973 /6 range, sharing the new five-speed gearbox and front disc brake with its siblings but running Bing constant-depression carburettors and a milder 9:1 compression. Overshadowed at launch by the faired R 90 S, it was a relaxed, low-revving long-distance bike and is credited by BMW as the first motorcycle with an H4 headlamp as standard.
