2016 was the last year of the original S 1000 R before the 2017 rework. It still used the 160 hp version of the S 1000 RR engine in the superbike's aluminium frame, with standard ABS and ASC traction control and optional DDC semi-active suspension. Its strong mid-range and sharp handling made it one of the quickest naked bikes of its day.
