For 2017 BMW reworked the S 1000 R, raising output from 160 to 165 hp and cutting a few kilograms, partly through a new exhaust and a revised frame. The ABS and traction control were upgraded, and the Gearshift Assist Pro quickshifter and launch control became standard. New colours freshened the look, but the basic layout of the original roadster stayed the same.
