The S 1000 RR was BMW's first in-line four superbike, built for World Superbike homologation in 2009 and sold widely from 2010. Its 193 hp, high-revving engine with titanium valves made it the most powerful bike in its class at launch. It also brought rider electronics to the 1000 cc class, with four riding modes, optional Race ABS and DTC traction control, and an optional quickshifter. The aluminium bridge frame and fully adjustable suspension made it a strong track machine.
