The second year of BMW's first superbike brought no real changes to the 193 hp inline-four that had shaken up the litre class in 2010. Its party piece remained the electronics: ride-by-wire throttle with Rain, Sport, Race and Slick modes, plus optional Race ABS and Dynamic Traction Control and a clutchless-upshift gearshift assistant. It was the last year before the 2012 chassis and throttle-map update.
