The Mille was the last of the bevel-drive Mike Hailwood Replicas, replacing the 864 cc 900 MHR with a bored-out 973 cc engine that has a one-piece plain-bearing crankshaft and larger valves. It kept the Hailwood Isle of Man TT 1978 racing look and used the chassis of the late 900 S2. Output rose slightly and torque improved, but the top speed claim stayed around 222 km/h. Only around a thousand were built before Cagiva ended bevel-drive production.
