The 1198SP took the 2011 slot above the standard 1198 as a road-going track tool. It added Ohlins suspension, a slipper clutch, a lightweight aluminium tank, Ducati Traction Control, a quick-shifter and the Data Analyser, plus forged wheels and a carbon front mudguard. It was sold in red or a new black scheme, both with a red trellis frame.
