The late 748SPS kept the titanium-rod engine and Brembo brakes. The 2000 update brought three-hollow-spoke Brembo wheels, gold wheels and frame, chrome-plated fork legs, fixed fairing and tank mounts, a higher-ratio clutch master cylinder, metal head gaskets and a side-stand safety sensor.
